Netgear WGR614

I have just bought one of these and connected it up correctly and all the lights are on but it won't connect to the internet. I can get online with my usual modem - a netopia. I have phoned support but they say they are not very familiar with macs and something needs to be disabled - an auto-detect thing? Does that mean anything to anyone?

Do you think I should try and get my money back and get a different router? I wanted to be able to use my ibook and a windows laptop wirelessly using the same internet connection. Only the mac is set up to go on the internet at the moment. I am on adsl broadband.

Any help would be welcome.

thanks

Search the forum, not sure about netgear, but some work around for linksys have been to lower the encryption of the password setting. For example, instead of 128-bit lower it to 48-bit. Additionally, I read placing the '$' symbol before you password, on the Mac for the network worked as well.
The forum should have discussions on this topic. Give the forum a search, others solutions may have been done.
