Netgear Wireless Network and iMac with Airport

I am inexperienced with Macs and have been trying to help my parents setup their new iMac with Airport to connect to their existing wireless network. They have a Netgear wireless router and the iMac just does not see it. We have confirmed that other computers can connect to the wireless network (Sony Vaio laptop), so there is nothing wrong with the wireless setup. The help guides that came with their Mac are not very helpful. It has been a month since they bought it and they still are not able to get it to work. It just shouldn't be this difficult. :confused:

Can anyone please provide any assistance?
 
Received help on another message board that worked. Checked the antenna was connected and it was not. CompUSA did a crappy job of installing the Airport card and charged my parents $30 for it. :mad:
