Netgear Wireless Router -> Airport Express

I have a Netgear Wireless router which I use for my old-ish iBook and MacBook. The problem is, the signal doesnt strech very far, because the walls are very thick where I live. If I would put an Airport Express to the router, would it work? I know it strechtes the wireles area with Airport Extreme etc., but does it work with Wireless routers?
Any suggestions?

In theory, the Express should be able to do what you describe for any 802.11g network. The minor catch is that you will need to be close to the Express to configure it - though in most cases that is not a problem.
