network 9 & x

this has plagued me for a while - is it or is it not possible to network my mac (10.1.4) and my dads mac (8.6)? we share a cable internet connection with a router and stuff and it SOMEtimes works and sometimes doesnt etc. i end up just rebooting in 9 and letting his get stuff off me that way, but its a pain in the ass.

Yeah, its a bit of a pain. I was doing it by disabling the file sharing in X, opening the file sharing control panel under classic and turing on file sharing there. Not the best way, but it worked. Then I upgraded to 10.2 and everything works as you'd expect it to. Definitely worth the upgrade!
