Hello!
I'm running a G4 and just installed the system upgrade "Tiger" v10.4 and was loving every minute of it until....I went to GO, Connect to Server.
The proper machines show up on My Network and the Connect button comes up enticingly under the desired server icon, but then when clicked, it thinks for a moment and says:
CONNECTION FAILED:
"This file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol. You cannot connect to it."
(Don't know what AFP means)
The computer I'm trying to connect to has a shared folder designated and is running Mac Classic OS 9.1 on a standard ethernet network and it all worked fine before I upgraded to Tiger.
Sure hope you got an easy answer -- other than installing system 10 on the old machine, cause my whole transition plan calls for me to continue to service certain files (20,000+ older pagemaker files!) on good old system 9.
So, you might say, how about using the feature where you run Mac Classic over top of system 10? Well, I've been advised by our local Mac guru that that results in an unstable operating environment. Any comments on that too?
Help please!
