Network problems with LAN

Hi Everybody,

I have some very "peculian" problems with my MAC OS X 10.3 (Dual G5) and Networking.

My problems are as follows:

1. How can I set the automatical access via LAN to my network drives without havin everytime to reconect at startup over Network option or executing netdrives aliases? I just want at startup to see all my netdrives logget up thats all!

2. Why does the network drives after a time or task in very different and never the same circumstances disconnect? I have all the time to reconnect again.

3. It doesnt matter if I use Internet assistant or DHCP Automatic or a manual settin for TCP/IP...I cant get the Internet connection. This should be via LAN like every other G4 or G3 Mac OS 9 Workstation or PC. The IP of this MAC is also given free from our Proxy (Winnt)...as I said there is no Problem with other computers that are a part of the same network.

Please, please help!

P.S. Our networ environment has 1 Sun-Helios Server, 2xWin Pro Server, 1x Winnt Proxy. Other workstations are different PowerPCs, G3, G4 and Windows based maschines...in none of them is this Problem occured.

Thanx a lot for your attention!

1. If you can mount the network drive manually using the "Connect to Server" option, then just drag the drive icon into the Login items in your system preferences, it will mount that drive at logon. Choose the option to save the password to your keychain to avoid being prompted for it.

2. Network drive disconnections are most likely going to be caused by the server side having some settings forcing a regular disconnect, or something in between on the network going wrong. To get around this for the meantime, drag the drive icons to your Favorites, or to your Finder toolbar, and you can remount them with just a click.

3. Do you use a proxy setting or server? Try taking the proxy settings out, and see how you go.

Hey...sorry for my very late responce....thx a lot for you propositions. That proposition for autom. connection to the server did no changes at this place but i solve it with "folder actions scripting". Now i see my network drives on the desktop without havin afterwoods to close their windows.

The problem with the Internet was a proxy port number that i was using...classical human failure...wrong number :-).

The disconections of network drives at the moment are only at MACOSX 10.3 or lower but wiht 10.3.5 it seems to be solved...wierd is only that this problem is still noticable at G4 Maschines...G5 is no problem. After changingf the IP setting to MANUAL it seems that the disconection appears rarely than before. Im still hunting on this apearance in overall.

cheers and thanx again
