network trouble

i have 2 mac laptops that were both hooked up to a network, but one of them somehow disconnected, and now doesnt have a default network that it joins automaticlly.

the network is passworded and i dont know the password.....my mothers friend hooked up the router and never told me the password, nor my mother.

is there a way to find out the password from the computer that is still connected to the network?

That isn't possible - that password is encrypted and usually really convoluted. You need to get the router password to reset the whole shooting match.

what is prompting you for the password? You can do a factory reset on the router or try using the default for that router - what type of router is it? you can usually do a search online for "default password and whatever your model # is" and get it.
