Networking issues

Ok so I have a home pc setup with windows vista home basic, i have my router connected to that as well as a printer connected to that computer. Im trying to get my Macbook pro connected to the home network so i can share files as well as use the printer hooked up to the home pc?? any help, i have tried and searched all over google to try to get this to work with no success?? its really frustrating!? any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks a ton in advance..!!!!
 
My mac wont recognize my pc or the workgroup or anything, it wont recognize the printer or anything, the only head way ive made is by clicking go to server on my mac and the putting in the ip address of my router network and then my mac will recognize the shared folders i have on my pc.....but i still cant connect to the workgroup or get the printer working?
