I took the plunge and bought a new iPod battery and installed it. The charge lasts lots longer, the music is all still there, but it wont show up in iTunes or on the OSX 10.4 desktop.
Ive restarted the system and restarted the iPod to no avail. The iPod updater wont work either because the system doesnt mount the iPod.
Its not the dock connector or the socket inside the body of the iPod because every time I plug it in I get the Do Not Disconnect message, so its definitely not a hardware issue. Ive also tried it on another Mac with exactly the same results.
Ive opened it up and checked I reconnected everything but theres only the battery and the drive connectors, I couldnt have missed anything.
Has anyone had similar trouble and can suggest a solution?
