New Dual Powermacs

Hi there

I would love to get on of those new Dual 1Ghz Powermac Apple just released. It is so tempting..... ::p

But I have one major concern: Are they still as noisy as the previous model? Or has Apple streamlined the airflow?

I would not like to change the fans Apple built in in a brand new machine.

yeah it's louder than the QS but since I also have a PC going at the same time I'm accustomed to noise.
A GlobalWin fan on an Athlon XP, something like 6500 rpm now that's noise.
 
I think that for now at least Apple is directing people who want quiet systems to the iMac. Power users must, alas, put up with fan noise.

I have read accounts of various users modifying their G4s with new fans, carboard mufflers, fan grille mods, etc., all in order to get a quieter machine, but I have attempted none of these myself as they would void my warranty.
