read alot about some new G5's about to be released sometime in near future, but what kind of machines are we talking about here? new iMacs? new PowerMacs?

the reason i'm asking is that i want to buy a new machine, preferably the 1.6 PowerMac, but if they'll release some new models this summer/autumn i guess it will be a bad time right now(..as they will probably go down pricewise, as the new ones are released...) or i'm a totally wrong?

Wait until the new ones are announced, then look at your options.

As for which machines, you could always check out the rumors sites and take a gamble on what it will be, or just wait and see.

there are always going to be newer better models in six months

get it now and enjoy it.

If I were you I would just wait till the new ones come out. Last summer I got my PowerMac G4 because the price dropped on it and then only 2 months later, the G5s were released!!! Also, right after this past Christmas I went to Circuit City and bought a 10GB iPod, only to face reality once again when I found out that Apple was going to release the iPod Mini. I guess I can't win when it comes to computers.

Hehe, sorry for all this gollum84.
But gollum84 has a good point: wait till new hardware is released and get your hands on the cheaper pre-models. All those freshly released macs are delivered at least 1-3 months later.
Currently there are rumors on 27th of march as the release date for the new G5 powermacs. But who knows what else might be released..

any rumours of new displays aswell? talking about the 17" studio and the two cinemas... any chance they will appear in a new outfit or with new "facilities"??

how long have they been around anyway??

I can do better than you gollum84 I got my iMac on a Friday, the following Monday wouldn't you know they bumped it a notch to a 1.25 ghz.Didn't get my drawers in a knot but my local reseller was chewing his nails til I told him to calm himself. It will happen to all of us eventually.
