New iBook Casing?

In response to fryke reply do u think that there all going to be 17inch monitord in this update and in response to itanium do u think there may be any other upgrades in january aside from the drives.

hmm interesting

i was messing with an older ibook yesterday, cant wait to get my new one

does anyone have comparo pics?

I went down to CompUSA today to look at the older iBooks still on display. Other than being terribly dirty, there is no difference between the old and new iBooks cosmetically other than the font used to write "iBook" on the case.

Someone on that forum obviously got everyone else to "drink the Kool-Aid."

Its hard to say if they're going to go all 17" LCD or not. They did phase out the 15" Studio Display but until the 19" Cinema Display is released, I think the 15" iMacs are here to stay.

After Christmas seems like a silly time to release new products but Apple has never been known to stick to convention. I don't think we'll be seeing new iBooks or PowerBooks in January. Probably new iMacs and PowerMacs. Xserve and Xraid would be good candidates for an after Christmas release. The old iMac needs to be retired and the eMac updated as well.

I think January is going to be a big time for Apple but not necessarily anything earth-shattering.

do u think they well release the updtadet version of imacs without monitor size increase and then again release them in january with the monitors.

No what i meant was do u think that apple would release an update within afew weeks with faster proceesor and in januarry release the imac kine with all 17inc monitors

The $999 iBook 700 casing is different. There is no paint! The inside around the keyboard, trackpad and LCD are a gray, unfinished plastic.

In my opinion it looks a lot cheaper. It is likely how they kept the cost down. They should note this on their website because I for one would have been highly disappointed to receive one of these iBooks with the "cheap" finish.
