It is cool that you can store picutres and audio with the new iPod update. But why do we need a $99 3rd party piece of hardware to get photos on the iPod when we have iPhoto. Maybe I haven't read enough yet or maybe that is for the windows users. It is seems it is to make the iPod work like a digital wallet. Transfer pictures from your camera to the iPod to free up your camera. Maybe it is me by $99 seems a litttle steep.

im not sure what equipment you use, but some of us need to have the ability to shoot many pictures at any given time. 99 dollars is about the price of a decent 256mb compact flash card, or you could free up existing memory cards with this new adapter.... IMHO not a bad deal at all :)

Right... if you just want to store information on your iPod, by all means, turn on the "Firewire hard drive" feature, plug in your iPod, and transfer.

What THIS device does, however, is take the computer out of the equation. It lets you transfer directly from your camera media to the iPod. I bet it's great for those who are digital photographers, but want to travel light.

Yup. That's them. And you need the latest iPod update to use them.

:( <--- has a 1st generation not-so-upgradable iPod
