New nic card works, but dosn't work! Help!

I recently installed a new wireless nic card in a mac power pc 10.3.9. The card works, and when I attempt to sign into the wireless network, it asks for the password, when I type in the password it says there is a problem logging onto the network. I am using a airport base station (the small one that plugs right into the wall).
Here is the things I have tried:
The network works with the password on a macbook with 10.4.11 and a pc with Vista.
I have re-entered the password several times, and double checked it. I am using the correct password, and the new card is seeing the network under the correct name.
This is the really weird one. I soft reset the airport router, and for the 5 minutes that it is reset (it resets for 5 minutes than returns to normal settings), the computer can log onto the internet and it does work. But will stop with the airport returns to the regular settings. The other computers work as well during this time.
Any suggestions.
 
It would definitely help to know if it is an original airport card you installed or airport extreme. But it sounds like its an original airport card and your security is set to something that isn't supported with that card. Or else perhaps you have the router set for G only instead of mixed mode.
