Hello all!

I am new to mac... been a PC user for more than 10 years... currently using Panther... a friend of mine lent his Tiger DVD .. I tried installing it but it wont.. is this because it's bundled with the hardware?[his ibook?] if i buy a Tiger . what should i look for? is there a label that will say it is compatible with my ibook? . Im using ..2004 Ibook G4. .with 1GB RAM/ 1.2GHZ.. 60GB.. combo..

Thanks for reading and hoping to hear from you guys.

Best Regards,

Your iBook should have come with an operating system. The license is bundled with the computer, so whoever "lost" that iBook's DVD (or sold it separately) is basically an idiot. Go to an Apple Store or a store selling Apple products and tell them that you've lost the original installation DVD and need some kind of backup/help. Cry if necessary. But the iBook can't come without OS X.

i don't think he bought it, or said he did, neither did he say he didn't have os x.

he has 10.3.9 on his iBook, and his friend (who has a newer iBook) lent him his restore disk to see if it would work.

it doesn't, and here we are.
