I participate in other forums that do not put a time-stamp on each thread entry. Instead they say something like "12 minutes ago". This is useless to me because it means "12 minutes before the last time this page was refreshed". Perhaps it's just me, I don't keep track of that info.
I found the extension Safari Tab Reloader which reloads a tab at a selected interval and will display, on demand, the time of last refresh. It also puts a little mark next to the tab title that indicates "the page has refreshed and you haven't looked at it".
