Over the past 20 years the one thing I hated to see was one group of people(Neilsen Ratings) become judge and jury for Television. In those twenty years I never once truly understood how an industry could base it's decisions on 5100 viewers. I know about 3 Neilsen families and even they tell me that they think that viewers and advertisers are getting the shaft. Now this soundscan thing comes in and they say that only 15 million songs have been downloaded since the 1st of the year!!! What is going on someone has to be pulling the wool over our eyes. Apple has reported it alone has sold 20 million since the first of the year and I'm pretty sure the rest of the industry has done another 5. Pretty soon I think executives are going to wake up and smell the coffee and see that Neilsen has been doing millions of us a major injustice and worse off it's the advertisers who have been losing. Neilsen has no clue and if the government thinks that only Microsoft has a monopoly then a bunch of officials have been paid of for the last 60 years. 200,000,000 televisions and they base their information of 5,100 viewers in 23 states. Pretty sad stuff.
