no cd icons on desktop

My OS10.3.9 has quit accepting my cds/dvd/s to copy jpeg photos. Nothing pops up on the screen. Where do I start? pgs

Does any CD/DVD work in your optical drive? These are typically fail prone. Cheapest way would be to buy an external drive, however, internals are available. Check Other World Computing at: http://eshop.macsales.com/
