I have a Powerbook G4 1GHz & an Airport Express connected to an Asante FR3004LC router connected to a cable modem. I also have a G4 Desktop hardwired to the router to the cable modem. All is well with the hardwired computer. I had no problem connecting to internet until I updated Apple software from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 on the laptop (all's well with the hardwired desktop). When I updated I couldn't connect to my AE, eventhough I had a full signal and the green light was on and steady (not blinking) on the AE. I got a message to update the firmware for the AE, so I did to v6.3. Still cannot connect to the internet. I have tried disconnecting the AE from the power source, the router, the cable modem, and the computer, then reconnecting but no changes.
When I run a network diagnostics it scans for the AE & network, it requests a location and I accept Automatic, Choose Network Port Config=Airport, Select Airport network and I accept the one I always use. Next question is Do I use DSL or Cable modem=yes, Please restart the device and I do. Are there any routers, firewalls, etc=yes, restart device and I do, Is there another device=no, Unable to connect to the internet. Network Diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems.
I have even reinstalled 10.4 to no avail...
I can connect to internet via AE through neighbor's WIFI and can connect via hardwire CAT5 to router but not thru AE to router to internet.
