MWNY: No live Apple keynote from TechTV

TechTV won't be carrying Apple CEO Steve Jobs' keynote tomorrow from the Macworld Conference & Expo in New York.

"Apple will not allow us to air it live or in its entirety," TechTV spokesperson Cindy Wakeman said in an e-mail. "I was not given reasons, just told that. We will be doing stories on it during Tech Live. I know that's not much, but right now it is all we have to offer."

TechTV had assumed they would be covering it as in the past, she said. Wakeman added that they "did try very hard to get this coverage for our Mac Enthusiasts."

Glad I've got broadband.

I can't even get techtv unless i pay like $70/moth for Charter "digital cable" and I never watch TV anyways.

sucks! I was all psyched because I got Tech TV like 2 weeks ago, and I thought I would be able to see it.

Oh well, I guess I've have to go to the Apple Store and hang out with all the other goobers. :p

Anyone know what time it starts??

It starts @ 9 AM Eastern/8 c/7 m/6 p....

Yeah, say what you will about TechTV's MWSF coverage, but in my opinion, watching it on a 30" TV is better than watching it on a 3x3 box on my computer. I guess the latter is our only option tomorrow.

Apple better have some good lines then cause it seems QuickTime steaming will be the only way to watch and there will be millions watching...MWSF had some laggy parts and bad image viewed on a T1 line, that better not happen again...

Know how you feel Macko, I just got it friday. I'm pretty pleased with what I have seen so far, the two times I have flipped to it, they were doing tutorials on OS X.:)

Of course this is all rumor... not sure if it's true or not...

But I heard that TechTV leaked some Apple news and that's the reason Apple cut them off.

Has anyone heard this?

What would have TechTV leaked?

I guess that would put TechTV in the press pass boat with the rumor sites. Whatever it is, Apple seems to be becoming less and less friendly with the press.

you can always try streaming on a 56K :p
you might get to hear the sound. ;)

The xserve thing is bang on. Apple wants to show the power that these boxes can deliver. To that end, they want to drastically increase the number of people that have to access the speech via the web. Either that or Steve Jobs thinks he is now king of the world and he doesn't need to worry about publicity, good or bad, because his OS dominates 95% of the market. If that's what he thinks, I hope he is sane enough to keep his pants on during the speech. As for me, I'm glad it's not on TechTV. Instead of going to watch it at my former place of employment, I will just plop myself down, naked except for my underwear (which will be on my head) and watch from the privacy of my own room. Confused, good. I think from now on all posts will be this incoherent and I wil lsee how long it takes the moderator to banish me to Harve's lounge. :)
