No PDFs in Safari

Whenever I try to download a PDF in Safari, all I get is a black screen. I have the latest Adobe versions and 5.0.5 Safari. This has been happening since I bought my Mac Mini with snow leopard. v10.6.7

What's going on and how do I fix it?

Might be a long shot but in Adobe prefs.do you have the box checked to display PDF's in your web browser ?

Where in the Adobe prefs. would this be located? There are a large number of categories.

I'm using Adobe 8 Pro. It's located in preferences>internet.

Switched my default reader from Adobe Reader to Adobe Standard. The problem seems to have gone away.
