Not Being ABle to move icons

I need serious help! I am not able to move icons on my desktop. It is extremely annoying when i can move anything. I can open up folders but not move them. I tried making another account and i had the same issues. I tryed using a program called CandyBar that changes the image of icons. I used the preset option to test it out. Then it told me to either logout or reset my computer. When I finished with my downloads i then restarted my computer. Some of my icons were already there. At that point I could open folders. I them uninstalled it with AppCleaner because i thought it was stupid, before i reset the computer. When it rebooted i could not move files. I also couldnt copy and paste files. I can send things to trash by Right-Clicking it and Send to trash. I also cant drag things out of the trash. Ontop of this endless lists of troubles, my google chromme does not work. This whole situation is very stressfull. Please, help. I need my computer for many things. Thank you very much

Ah well . . . where to start.

First--ala the "Stickies"--give us all the information regarding your computer. This helps.

Second--if you have not done so, back up your data. Take about $100 . . . go to your local Seller of Things Electronic and Diabolical . . . and get an Ex-HD. This is to preserve your data in the case the next steps involve frelling everything up. For, worse case scenario, you need to reload your OS and start from the beginning.

Now, depending on the computer, OS you are using, and all of that, the next steps can vary.

Third--use your Installation Disks--grey and came with the computer--to boot up the computer. Run Disk Utility to Repair the disk. Keep running it until no errors.

That may solve the problem.
