object select in Illustrator

for some reason now when I select an eps (with 'hide Bounding Box' selected), I can't see the outline of the image or anything to tell me that it's selected. I can only tell when I delete it to make sure it's selected. How do I fix this?

I'm probably wrong, but could it be you have Hide Edges enabled? It's in the View menu, or press Command + H.

Command+H hides Illustrator. .. Ah, no, I forget... I guess that's only because I have LaunchBar installed which makes Cmd-H/Cmd-Opt-H stick.

yeah tell me about it... Command + H SHOULD hide Illustrator. Apple apps seem to be the only ones which reserve Command + H for that purpose. I find all the Adobe apps have it bound to something else so you have to do it the long way.
