Back to Mac Baby!
Ok, here's the rundown.
User 1 has Office 98 file "abc.xls"
There is minimal formatting in the form of colors, and row height sizes.
User 2 opens abc.xls in Office X
User 2 sees everything fine, and is able to work with the file.
User 2 then e-mails abc.xls to User 3, and User 1
Both User 1 and User 3 cannot open file in Office 98 with error "not enough memory."
Here are the actions that have been taken, and had no positive, or negative effect. They simply didn't work.
1) Allocated more memory (duh)
2) Had User 2 save file as "5/97 - 2000 Excel file", "Excel 5 file", and "Text-only"
3) Had User 2 use a different e-mail client
4) Skipped the whole "other user" sending and tried opening abc.xls on User 2's machine in Excel 98.
5) Reinstalled Office X
6) Tossed Office X's prefs
Still no dice. Oh, and please don't reply with "just buy Office X" unless you are going to give us a donation, or will gift us your copies, we need 6 more.
Right now I've told User 2 to just use Office 98 for compatibility.
Which stinks, I want Office X widely used here. We may just have to save our pennies...
