Office X unexpectedly quitting on startup

You talking to me!
I,ve just purchased Office X (for my work) and find that Word, Excel and Powerpoint keep quitting at startup, except for Entourage. (I use a G4 Quicksilver 733, 640 MB RAM.)

I get the splash screen then the normal OS X dialogue box, 'Word has unexpectedly quit, your system and other application have not been affected'.

I've tried unistalling it, removing all Office references/preferences and then reinstalling but to no avail. Only Entourage works. I've even updated it with the security and hotmail updaters.

I put in on one of our admin iMacs and it all works fine. I have had the Office X trial on my machine and this also gave me this message, but I thought it might just be the trial software, could this cause problems? Funny thing is the trial worked at first.

Any suggestions please.

I have the exact same problem too; i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
i don't know how to fix this either.

I have Office 2001 installed. and also, I had Office X test drive but dragged into the trash and emptied before I installed Office X.
 
if you 're executing office in a LAN Network and more the a version of Office x has the same registration number .... very probably is this !!!

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately I had the problem with the Office Demo (but not at first) and I was the only one using OS X. I have subsequently installed OS X on 3 of our admin iMacs and the same copy of Office X on one of these (to test if it worked, after I was having the problem on my G4). I thought that the PID network thing maybe a cause so I tried firing it up after unplugging my Ethernet cable, but it still crapped out.

What I think I need to do is reinstall the system :mad: if I cannot get a solution elsewhere, but I'll wait a little.

Try to delete these files

~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Carbon Registration Database
~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office Registration Cache X

for me, word is the only one quitting. it starts and works fine for a bit, and then quits.

word 98 under os 9 rarely crashed. :(

I even updated X via msofts web site... I think there were 2 updates there, small ones.

overall, works ok...

I deleted office 98 altogether.
 
I had the same problems and I just found out it was a bad font - Futura to be exact. When I logged in as a differant user, everything was ok. But Suitcase had differant font loaded in the other user, so I thought it was Suitcase causing the problem.
It was very frustrating to find out.
