oh baby, i've never seen such an error. upon bootup, i get the blue screen for a second, followed by lots of pretty black and white error messages.

no debugger configured- dumping debug information. panic: cpu 0: unable to find driver for this platform: powermac 4.1. panic: we are hanging here...

isn't that neat? is there any way i can backup the data? i don't have another mac... i need to backup about 10 gigs of data. if not, then i suppose all mp3s and software i have is lost. ah well.
i can't fsck it, i can't do anything. it's ultra dead.
 
... if i could somehow boot into 9 to backup my stuff...

by the way, all this happened when i uninstalled sosumi. it wouldn't boot back into X, so i reinstalled X using the X.1 update cd. it got an error in install. so it goes.
 
look at this thead and / or this thread perhaps one or the other has the answer or the clue to the answer you need. I nearly freaked when i saw the screen ending in "hanging here" but all is well again. Hope it will be with you too.
