Old Mac Notebook not working

Last night I was on Safari when my whole mac froze up. It's happened before, so I just held down the power button to turn it off. Now this morning when I tried to turn it on, I hear it working and the start up chime. But nothing happens. It stays on the white screen. I think it may have something to do with the CD game I had in there. Please help!

Sounds like a problem with the HD. Try to boot to your install DVD and go to utilities/disk utility. Then choose your internal HD and select repair disk to see check the integrity of the drive and perhaps correct any directory structure corruption. Post back with results.
