One Million Songs Purchased by iTunes Users in Three and a Half Days

Great news... :) Wonder what that number might be if we had an INTERNATIONAL iTunes Music Store anytime soon... I know that _I_ would get an account immediately. This would _definitely_ drive me even poorer, but if even _browsing_ the iTMS is fun (I do it from time to time), I wonder how much fun it is if you can actually _buy_ music... Hmm... Right now, it seems that Apple's only teasing me...

yeap. i browse the music store from time to time. half a year ago i would have never considered buyin music from the internet seriously.

but as time has passed, im sure that once the iTunes music store hits Europe, ill make an account as soon as i can.

So what then, a million people downloaded WiTunes and bought one song each? ;)

That's a lot of music! Maybe the RIAA will start to cool down a little. Now that Apple is bringing back the legal stuff. ;)

just out of curiosity... how the heck does the ITMS know what country you are in? I mean after all, your dealing with it over the internet...
Is it just your billing information thats a problem?

Fahrvergnuugen,

Not sure how it works exactly, but ITMS either bases where you are located by the domain of the ISP you are connecting to or by a traceroute on your IP. I'm overseas for a few months in the Philippines and as soon as I hooked up my iBook to download some music it popped up "The itunes music store is not available in your country yet" message. But if you have a US billing address it will let you threw so I was happy :)

1 Million songs in 3 days, damn. That will make the next Apple Q report look mighty nice to stock holders.

I guess the Windows users will help Mac corner more of the market share. Maybe mac can have 20% by the year 2010.

Who knows... though I doubt that will happen if Apple keeps releasing their products for Windows. Or do you mean the MP3 player market?

Fahrv: IM me, "famonymous."

That's only a few hundred thou to Apple. The pr alone from the site is much more than that.

I'm talking about the whole market. The more Windows users use iPod, they will realize the sleek and durability of a mac product and would be more and more interested in a mac cpu.

You can buy in Europe, but you have to trick it a "little" bit.

You need two accounts. Account 1 buys a gift and sends it to account 2 (no check of your location). Account 2 lies on its location when buy song based on the gift... no check of the payment location... so you get it !

That's very cool. I was planning on having people stateside buy the gift certificates, but this is better still.

100 million here we come!
