Ok.
Run a game that uses Open GL to goto full-screen e.g. :http://www.skunkstudios.com/sveerz (free download - very good game xcept for this problem...)
Play it
Quit the game returning to the Finder and watch as a magical black square appears (oddly enough its the same size as the game window is when not in full screen mode) and wonder....
