OpenOffice Help

Looking for progress
Hey everyone,

First, not sure this should go here, but since it's an X11 app, I figured, what the hey! If it's not the correct location, will a mod please move it...thanks.

OK, I have been using OpenOffice for a while now. I know little (to nothing) about *nix and X11. The installer took care of everything.

But last night when I went to run it I got an AppleScript Error and it failed to load. Here is the error in all its glory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I use this program quite often. Thanks in advance for anything anyone can suggest.

Later,
Eddie

I'm guessing you tried the "Start OpenOfficeOrg.app" that comes with it..?
I had similar problems. Try starting X11, and then from the xterm window that comes up, type "/Applications/OpenOffice/program/start" where /Applications/OpenOffice/ is the directory, or folder you installed into. This should start open office without a problem.

Tried it...but like I said, I don't know anything about the terminal.

I did not work....kept telling me 'command not found'

Thanks for the help none-the-less

Got anything else to try?

Thanks again,
Eddie

Well...just a few minutes after having no luck with Pengu's suggestion (thanks again P) I, just for $#!t'$ and giggles tried launching OOo from the dock icon...and it worked!

No idea why, unless Pengu's suggestion fixed something, but since I was having no luck getting anything other than a 'command not found' error, I can't see that having been the case.

Anyway, just wanted to post that it is fixed--apparently--and to thank Pengu again for the help.

I'm buying the beer!

Eddie
