OpenOffice vs. MS Office

Hello,

As a user of Windows for so many years, I have also been accustomed to Microsoft's other flagship: Office.

When I migrated to Mac, my first move was naturally to work with MS Office for Mac. However, I have heard several people arguing that OpenOffice is a much better (and free) solution.

I am tempted to make the switch, but I have some reservations regarding compatibility issues: Will OpenOffice be able to save and open documents in exactly the same way MS Office does? Or are there going to be problems in some instances?

I finally did try it, and it works fine. I think I will use OpenOffice permanently from now on...

I'm glad you tried it - and like it.
I'm all with NeoOffice (still based on OpenOffice) on my Mac - does just fine what I need for office needs, and can't beat the price :)

Not only did I like OpenOffice, but I have now removed completely MS Office from my system... The uninstallation proved to be more tiresome than I expected (I have written a relevant post about it), but the job is now successfully done!
