I currently use Graphic Converter for my basic phot manipulation. but as more alternative photo editors show up and are getting improved, i've been looking around some more for other affordable alternatives. so now, i've taken the same original photo from my cheapy digital camera and made basically the same enhancements on it in GC, Photoshop and Photoline.

without my saying anything about them, i'm wondering if you can tell the difference, and if so which one(s) look the best. i realize there is little to be done to make up for some of the camera's shortcomings.

here's the original pic, unaltered

Pic 1 is prolly the best of the three, but pic 3 is okay too... My new camera just came. :) It's a Toshiba PDR-3320. I'm'a go play with it.

I just got back from taking some pictures for my Photography Issue 1 set (for my website), i think i'll upload one of the pictures in just a second. But anywho...lol:

The unaltered looks good. :D But outta those 3 i'd say 3.

What were you trying to achieve with the alterations?

And have you tried PixelNhance? It is a great little app. Here is what it looks like when used on your original image.

yea dave, i have tried it. but i can't get it to scale. that's the whole point. i can make fine pics in any of these at original size, but they're so small i can't even see what's in them. they're really just big thumbnails to my eyes. but i find that if i enlarge to 540 pixels across, it's a nice size with reasonable corrections that make it viewable. i know pixelenhance is supposed to scale, i even looked up their instructions, but it doesn't work. i just get a bigger window around my original.
