dose anyone know where i can get a copy of 10.3.9 for a G3? also i have a G4 and when i boot it up i just get the spinning gray wheel and the CD will not open, what can i do?

So, it's an iMac with FireWire. Therefore, it's capable of 10.4 (Tiger), which is easier to find; I found several copies of the 10.4 retail install disc on eBay and none of 10.3. A memory upgrade might be a good idea, too; your iMac supports up to 1GB.

Just to be clear, there is no such thing as MacOS X 10.3.9 for a G3. You must install MacOS X 10.3 from a retail distribution [black] disc as earthsaver said. Once installed, you may use Software Update to update to MacOS X 10.3.9.

You don't say which G4 you have. However, the same basic rule applies. If your computer is older than MacOS X 10.3, then you may use a retail distribution disc to install MacOS X 10.3 on it. Then you may use Software Update to update to the latest version of MacOS X 10.3.9 including the most security updates. However, I would recommend MacOS X 10.4 for the G4. If it has a processor with a clock speed greater than 867 MHz, then you may upgrade to MacOS X 10.5 (Leopard).

To be clear, 867MHz is the minimum supported processor speed for 10.5 (Leopard); your G4 would have to be at least that fast.
