OS 9.2 won't recognize second drive

Hi,

I'm running Pro-Tools on a Mac G4 with OS 9.2.

I've installed a second hard drive, a Seagate 160 GB, which functions very well. But about two-thirds of the time, it doesn't show up on my desktop when I boot up.

So I end up booting my computer three or more times in a row in order to access the second drive.

Why doesn't my Mac recognize the second drive consistently?

BTW, I've already tried "zapping the PRAM."

Thanks,

Richard

Have you got the 160Gb jumper set to cs, if so set it to slave and primary set to master....or just for testing see if it works with the cd/dvd ide cable...

The jumper settings were adjusted when I installed the second drive. It does work -- when it's recognized. The problem is, it isn't always detected by my computer. I'll try the CD/DVD cable and see what ensues.

Thanks
