OS 9 not automatic anymore

Hi,

All of a sudden, when I open an application that needs OS9, (from OSX), it will not open automatically. I get a message saying I need OS 9.1 or later, and to refer to my manual. OS9.2.2 is what is installed on the iMac G4 that I have, and it did open automatically until today. Now the only way I can get to it is to select it as the startup disk. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks... Artist

Not really sure what might cause this. If you just want a fix, I'd be willing to bet that running software restore for OS9 will do the trick. (You'll have to srtart up by CD.)

If that doesn't fix it you may consider reinstalling OS9 altogether. Keep in mind that this will erase any OS9 preferences and zap any extention files that did not come on the OS9 install disk.

Have you tryed running a System Utilites Program like Norton (Only use the latest version of NDD on OSX — Version 7.) this may also help.

more likely to have been the cause of the problem. norton at least.

as far as i know, nobody has updated their repair programs since 10.1.5 has come out. this makes them a bit iffy thing to run. i wouldn't at this point unless it's something major. and i'd try all other solutions short of reformatting first.

at times, for some odd reason, system 9 loses it's blessed status. try clicking on the os 9 system and see if that doesn't bgring it back. if that doesn't work, try booting in 9 and then rebooting back to x.
