how can i get the 10.3.3. update? is this something you have to buy, or is this like something you can detect in system preferences and automaticly download and install...?
Either go to System Preferences/Software update to get it to automatically download and install, or alternatively, download the update from the Apple download page at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ . Updates of this type (10.3.x) are always free, you only pay for the 10.x upgrades (such as jaguar: 10.2 and Panther 10.3).
ehh.. so if i open "about this mac" and it says i'm running 10.2.8, it means i run Jag? always thought i had normal os x only, but hey...!
is there an update after 10.2.8 or is this the latest...?
"Normal" OS X has been through four major upgrades since the Public Beta and there have been several updates to each of the versions 10.2.8 being the final Jaguar update. 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 (Jaguar), and 10.3 (Panther) are upgrades. 10.3.1, 10.3.2, 10.3.3 are updates. To upgrade from 10.2.8 to Panther 10.3 you will have to purchase the four CD set at an MSRP of $129. Panther is a major upgrade over Jaguar with hundreds of new features, improved VM management, faster response time, upgrades to Mail and other "built in" apps, etc. The difference between 10.2.8 and 10.3 is at least as much as the difference between Mac OS 8 and OS 9 or between Windows 2000 and Windows XP. After you have Panther installed, the updates are free downloads.
