OS X 10.3.9 uninstall/upgrade problem

I have an imac G5, 1GB memory running OS X 10.3.9. I got it second hand, and do not have an OS X 10.3.9 Install disk. I've never used anything Apple before.

The only reason I got it is to run Logic 8, but that won't run in OS X 10.3.9. So I bought a Snow Leopard Version 10.6 family pack disc but I can't seem to install it, and when I put the disc in and double click on "Install" it just shoots an icon to the toolbar which then disappears, and does nothing. It won't let me initiate Erase and Uninstall, and I've tried the holding "c" method to no avail. I'm not sure what else to do. It's like one thing after another with this thing. It can't be that difficult, surely.

Any help much appreciated.

your G5 has a PPC (power PC) cpu.
Snow leopard will only install and run on the newer Intel CPU Apples.
There is noway it will install on your system, the latest OS you could use is 10.5.8 Leopard.
