os x 10.5

hello all - i currently have os x 10.4.11 installed on my older powerbk g4 and 10 days ago safari and adobe reader stopped opening - they just jump for a few seconds and then stop opening - i am looking for a download for 10.5 - the only download i can find on apple on 10.5.1 and later - when i google, all i find are third party stuff that are available - any suggestions? thanks, coni uzelac@hotmail.com

For the record, 10.5 won't magically solve your problem with Safari and Adobe Reader. Check to make sure you have enough available disk space for OS X to use (recommended is 15% disk space at least). Anything less will result in strange behavior. Also, make sure you have enough RAM on your PowerBook. Check in Console and see what error messages you get regarding Safari and Adobe Reader. Try deleting Adobe Reader and reinstalling the latest version from Adobe's website that runs on 10.4.x. If you need to reinstall Safari, try and download the latest version supported under 10.4.x. Safari 5 will only run on 10.5.8 or greater, so it looks like Safari 4 is the highest you can go.

One more thing, try using the discs that came with your PowerBook to perform a Repair Disk as well as a Repair Permissions. They might find some problems that are preventing you from running those two apps.

the problem is that everything was working 10 days ago - i did nothing new - i had no problem at all opening both safari and adobe reader - now i have a problem...i do not think that i have enough mbz for 10.5 - i do not know where to check the size...

i ran disk utilities and it indicates that everything is ok - i also had the g4 serviced by a tech before i left fort lauderdale - i am currently in europe for the summer and receiving any packages will trigger vat...
