To those that say you can get Jaguar from Apple's site with a student discount, please tell me where it says this.

Under the "Education" section on Apple's site, it says
Eligibility
Eligible purchasers include faculty, educators, and staff who are employed by a provincially accredited educational institution that has full-time students in the Kindergarten to Grade 12 range, including private schools and school districts. School board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are also eligible.

That doesn't say students at all in there.

I could get it from my school, but, the discount isn't as much as it is from Apple's site.

The best I got from my school's computer store for OS X.0 was $129.00 Canadian.

technically you aren't supposed to get it unless you are the staff of k-12 or in college. But that's really not fair...

I know. I guess I could say that I'm a teacher ;) but I don't want to have to do that. Plus, I thought I remember saying that you could get the student discount from Apple's site..

I think xaqintosh is wrong, I got the discount as a student.

I clicked on education -> under higer education where it says staff and students -> enter state and city ->pick school -> get discount.

I hope this helps,
Vanguard

that meant "college" student, although people tend to forget that key word. however, you can either give the money to a teacher and have him/her buy it, or skip that process and "pretend" you did it :) ;) :p

higher education is college

Well, I'm a college student, so that's pretty cool :D

Thanks vanguard!

Now, I think that High-school students should also get the discount, but that's another petition :p (uh oh, I hope I didn't give anyone a bad idea) :D

Sorry vanguard, I don't see anything like "higher education" after clicking on the Education button.

The price listed after I click the Education button and agree to the terms is $105.00 Canadian, which is discounted already. Did you have to do anything else?

It's only $10 more at Amazon than it is for us college students, so it's not that bad for the high schoolers (besides, you don't have to buy a bunch of $100 paperbacks every semester :) )

So you go to store.apple.com and click on the education tab at the top. In the right column you'll see where it says "Shop for yourself".

The second triangle is for higher education.

if you have a local Jr. College just take a class there and then you can go for the Edu discount

(thats what i did)

Well, that's my problem. The Canadian Apple store has a different page after I click on the Education button. It only says that teachers can get the discount, where as the US site has options for students.

I'd try out the US site, but it only has US states, and since I live in Canada, it's not going to work.

I guess I'll have to get my "teacher" to order it for me :D

I got an email about it right away when it was announced, talking about the new price. I could forward it to any of you who might want to check it out. Email me if you want to read it.
