hey, i was wondering, how can i play avi's on os x? i have 10.1 and they wont play in quicktime, and i havent found any program that they will download in. they are not divx, so they wont run witht he divx codec, i have gotten movies to play perfectly, but these are just shorter *.avi files, and i would really appreciate it if someone told me how i could watch these. thanks

I think .avi files can be played in Windoze Media Player. There is an OS X version floating around out there somewhere, maybe you can find it by searching this forum. I think someone had a url *hint* to get it from, but for some reason Microsoft seems to have made it dissapear from their site.

I personally wish people would stop recording in .avi and all other formats, .mov and .mpeg are the best, and work on pretty much every platform.

Depends. If it really is an old-style AVI, you need Windows Media Player. Ask MacAvenger, he might still have the installer.
But if it is a DivX (which also have the ending .avi) you need the OS X Quicktime Codec, get it at www.macdivx.com, it's a great codec!
