OS X on a Windows Network

ERROR 407 is my problem when trying to access the internet through the firewall. I can get onto the net with IE using the Username and Password in the HTTP Proxy Preferences but even then IE comes up with errors. Other browsers do not have this feature as they rely on the Network System Prefs. This also causes problems with MSN Messenger. I am new to the office and so far the only Mac; the IT department doesn't have a clue. Please help this lonely Mac user.

I have the IP and Port set in the Network Settings. In the settings there is no where to enter the username and password for authentification so I was thinking this was the issue.

I can get out in IE but if I go to a page with frames half the frames show up as 407 and the browser crashes constantly.

If you are having no other issues with the network then try setting the Proxy Info to the actual IP address instead of the HTTP:// address. And you may need to add the DNS Server Information instead of relying on DHCP. Your Admin/helpdesk should be able to assist you with this.

Under Network Prefs try creating a new location with the information.
