Sorry if somebody does not believe in this true description of the weirdest problem I have ever experienced. A totally new QuickSilver 867 G4, 512+128RAM. Mac OS 9.2.2+Mac OS X 10.1.1 installed ON THE SAME partition.
Booting form the mac OS 9, with VIRTUAL MEMORY ON (641Mb by default installation). WebStar 4.4 (G4). Machine froze after quitting the server. Upon restart the Webstar folder was renamed to ".0" and the Webstar prefs corrupted. Everything has been tested form removing all RAM, test with TechTool 3.04 (RAM, HD, etc) Nothing helped. Same result if Webstar 4 was started from Classic within Mac OS X.
After two desperate hopeless days, the solution was found: Virtual Memory turned Off and the problem disappeared at once!
In an older G4 same RAM, same software configuration BUT with OS 922 and OSX10.1.1 each on a different hard disk the problem NEVER OCCURS.
Ihas anybody a plausible explanation? Until this moment the ONLY program experiencing this incredibly weird situation is WebStar 4.4 G4
Can the File Manager "be confused" because OS 922 +VM and OS X 10.1.1 resides on the same disc / disc partition?
Or is it a "feature" due to the specific firmware configuration of QuickSiulver 867 model?
Please we are serious, we do need help to pinpoint the propable cause to this problem.

Thanks in advance!
