OSX Cannot Detect Airport Card?

OSX does not detect my (Original) airport card at all.
I've updated everything with Software update. I've tested the card on other Macs and they detect the card. I've tested other cards on my iBook but still it still can't detect any airport cards. Basically it's my iBook.

any suggestions? I'm totally stumped and I've searched everywhere for solutions but it seems like I'm the only one.

I have an iBook 500 G3, OS 10.3.8, Airport 4.1.

It's possible the AirPort slot on the motherboard is bad. It happened to a friend while under warranty and Apple replaced the slot.

aren't the airport slots on Ibook g3 500's, built in?

Yes. It's an assembly on the motherboard. Apple had to replace the assembly.

It's also possible that the antennae/and-or Airport card aren't installed/connected properly.

so by assembly, you mean the whole logic board itself? Or just the slot itself?

and if it were the antenna, the card would at least be detected by OS X with really bad reception. I've reseated the card a dozen times with no avail.

The card slot assembly is soldered onto the motherboard. The motherboard was fine. The card slot assembly was not.
