OSX native scanner with decent film scanning capabilities

Hi there,
both my sis and I are photographers and I have convinced her to change to OSX - she has a UMAX scanner and as you all know there are no drivers for OSX for the USB ranges (I'm sure like me you will never buy UMAX again!!!)
Does anybody know of a goodish quality flatbed scanner that will scan film, (mainly 120 b&W) to a reasonable standard (ideally glasslessly) - my sister will pay up to $500
Many thanks....

vue scan should work well for your umax

if it doesnt, i suggest the epson 3200 photo, its the replacement of my current scanner, the epson 2450 photo, it does 2400dpi, pretty sharp, not as sharp as dedicated film scanners obviously, but does a good job for 400 bucks (the 3200 i think scans at 3200 and is 3 times faster and is around $350 ive heard)

anyways its a great scanner, good stuff :)

vue scan doesn't work with umax usb scanners jason.

there was a nice review of os x compatible scanners in a recent MacWorld issue. try checking it out at your library if you don't have it. the Canon lide was highly rated. it had a pretty good comparison of 2 epson models, 2 canon models and 2 HP models.
