osx wont load

hi all i have a big problam i have an ibook g4
it used to work fine then one day a cd got stuck in it and after that it wont load up the os.i tried to reset user account and i get past the language screen ie select contry then it hangs up it wont get to the login screen when i do a cmd v on boot it says login window crashed and then just goes into a continuaous loop doing this over and over again.i can use nano to view files so dont think its a prob with the hard disk . i dont have the main install disk osx but did buy snow leapord as was a lot cheaper and was hoping i could boot from this to get me into the os and sort it out....please can anyone help me with this problam

Snow Leopard won't run on a ibook G4. You are going to have to find a retail version of 10.5 or older depending on your processor and RAM. Or else look harder for your original disks. Still could be a bad drive also. Just because you can see files just means the drive hasn't completely died yet.
