I recently signed w/ verizon for email (hate it), but was given the option to use outlook express (love it). Verizon techs (3 of them) "walked" me through the switch and when it did not go well - quit. The problem: - went to "tools" as I was directed, opened the "account"...... and found that the "SMTP authentication required" box was missing from the final step. Verizon suggested that I go to Microsoft and download a more current version - I did - guess what? same problem.
I have no idea where my email is now coming (to), and everytime I try to send an email from outlook an error box pops up and tells me..."A message in your outbox could not be sent. The server did not recognize the recipients." The explanation given is --- "5.7.1 Authentication required.'" If I sound like a novice it is because I AM!)
I feel like I am so close - as in where do I find the "authentication required box", and how do I get it where it belongs. I am a somewhat intelligent high school teacher but this "experience" with Verizon makes me feel anything but.....
Can anyone help me?
Cari
