Palm woes ...

OK - the beta of Palm Desktop 4 for OS X - I uninstalled it, I've uninstalled my OS 9 version of Palm Desktop 2.6.3, I've reinstalled 2.6.3, it sync's fine, but won't allow me to get into the menu item Edit Users - I get a "File Not Found" error and I can't get avantgo to install because the installer tells me that Hotsync isn't installed.

I've searched for files named "users" or "Palm" or "hotsync" and got rid of anything that might have been version 4 related or in any of the OS X folders.

Any ideas?

I really want Apple to give me a PDA to buy ... I've had it with Palm - I want a nice expandable PDA, that plays MP3's, with a color LCD, I want it to be able to connect to my Airport network so I can sync from anywhere in the house without having to physically connect it to my iBook. It should also have a USB and or Firewire port so I could connect a camera to it and save snapshots on the road or video conference with the wireless connection, of course it should have an headset connection as well.
And use a thin fuel cell for the battery pack for the absolute best battery life.

I ran hotsync, and configured it to overwrite the mac .... that seemed to help a little, as long as I have the hotsync window open, I can used the Instant Desktop to get to Hotsync or Edit Users, but if I close it, I get the File not found error. So it looks like somewhere there's a preference that points to an obsolete location for the hotsync app .... any ideas on how to find out? I looked in Preferences folder in the System Folder but only found files that appear to be related to the newest install. Avantgo still won't install even if I have Hotsync open, it still reports that it's not installed.

I'm posting a reply for posterity - and since I never found a good answer online anywhere ....

What I did was, go into OS X - System Preferences - OS 9 - and rebuild the desktop - then I started up Classic. For the heck of it, I tried installing Avantgo in Classic ... and loe and behold it worked. So after I rebooted into OS 9 - I was able to get syncing working again and it even works in Classic.
