Palm X Conduits For Entourage / OS X Scanners!

OK folks, I just returned from MacWorld Expo and, among other things, would like to report the following information:

1) Microsoft claims that the delay in getting an OS X conduit for Entourage X to permit it to sync with Palm/Handspring PDA's is because Palm has yet to deliver on certain aspects of providing code to Microsoft. A representative of Microsoft told me in person that Palm, although it has provided certain SDK components to MS, has allegedly failed to release all of the necessary SDK requirements to MS so that it can build an OS X conduit for Entourage.

SO EVERYONE SHOULD EMAIL PALM AND, IF THIS IS TRUE, BUG THE HECK OUT OF THEM TO RELEASE THE CODE AND GET THIS THING DONE ALREADY!

2) Spokespersons from Canon and Epson told me that the delay in getting OS X drivers for their scanners was due to licensing issues between the TWAIN committee and the hardware vendors (and/or Apple -- i.e., licensing issues between OS X and TWAIN). Anyone have information on this to add?
 
Regarding scanners:

I gave up on HP supplying an OS X scanner driver for my HP 5300 scanner and purchased the VueScan (shareware on versiontracker). VueScan works VERY well for me and supports MANY scanners. It was well worth the $40 for the shareware fee, and this is the first time I've ever paid for shareware as I use this quite often (AND IT WORKS!). VueScan is a God send, I can scan to my hearts content and still do other things (multitask) with the computer. The propriatary HP software for Mac OS 9 would not let me doing ANYTHING else while an image was being scanned-in.
 
I also paid for VueScan X 'cause I got sick of waiting for UMAX to put out drivers. I must say, VueScan is worth the money if you have an UMAX drivers. UMAX software simply wanks the big one.
 
Scanner manufacturers should look in to licensing VueScan from Hamrick, or contract him to add their scanner to his support list.

It really is a good piece of software and Hamrick really seems to be on the ball in keeping it updated. Sometimes you will get a couple of upgrades everyweek!
