Panasonic DV mini PV-GS9 video recorder

I am running a PowerPC G3 400MHZ slot DV SE 512MB Ram and Mac OS X 10.4...Cannot get computer to recognize camcorder....any suggestions?
 
Is the camcorder in "pc" mode and on while connected?
Do you see the device in system profiler, Finder, iMovie, FCE or FCP - is it seen anywhere?
 
The Panasonic PV-GS9 miniDV camcorder uses USB only for still images. Like just about every other camcorder, it requires a FireWire connection for video. Panasonic's manual lists the cable as "optional." As such, it may be a separate purchase. Panasonic refers to the optional FireWire cable as a "DV Interface Cable." I strongly suggest that you pull out your camcorder's manual if you still have it or download it from Panasonic's website if you don't.
 
Thanks for info...have firewire cable and have gone through camera manual...my imac running os x 10.4 does not read that the camcorder is there..was hoping there was a program out there to purchase that would solve problem...
