this happened to me a two or three times, but this one seems serious :

Last times it happened (this afternoon), I reboot in single user, run a fsck -y. It stopped itself at the second run, saying after the "checking catalog hierarchy": Undefined error Disk O9.

Since then, it refused to re-start, even in single-user mode.
I'm gonna put a install CD to boot with, but :
Does anyone have any idea of what happening ?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks Testuser.
Unfortunetly,I try to re-boot without success, anb by manyways.
Rebooting on my Classic Partition, the system invoque an extension conflict (a 10:10 error, I didn't knew this syntax), and then freezed. My 9.2.2 classic is absolutly clean, no third-party installed, no apple extensions disabled. I started without extensions, and was told the same.
Rebooting with a OS9 Apple CD, I was told, at the end of the startup process, as it was getting to mount the finder, that the CD was unreadeable !
Then I tried a reboot with an Apple OSX (10.1) CD Install. Startup process completed, then the installer began to run, and spend ten minutes or more ckecking volumes. Then a new kernel appears.
The text of this kernel is :
___________
Unresolved Kernel trap(cpu1): 0x300 Data access DSISR=0x40000000 DAR=0xc24bc1b5 PC=0x00097420, MSR=0x00001030

I have post all of this at the applecare discussion forum. The Apple Moderator ask me to remove the additionnal RAM. I'm gonna do it tomorrow (it's my office computer, and it's late in France).
But I saw, at this occasion, that other dualG4800 had that kinds of problems. Is there any issue with that particular model ?

For the moment, i can't even start my machine, even in single user. What do you think about that ?

Thanks a lot.

Right. I will follow your advice and check the RAM. If it's still not working, I will call my apple dealer for a hardware check.

I didn't install any hardware adds, just 2 512K ram. The only hardware that was modified was the superdrive I removed and replace by a yamaha CDRW.

I'll tell you what was the problem.

Thanks again.

Well, it's done ! It was hardware problem, as you supposed it. Not the RAM, but the disk. The first physical segments were crashed, and my tech's dealer was even unable to repair it. He changed the HD.
It seems to be the same for my friend Yerodis, with the same model of disk, a 80Go sold by the AppleStore.
The specs of the disk are :
Type du périph. ATA ata
Nº de serie du periph. WD-WMA9P1581934
Revision du periph. 22.04A22
Modele du periph. WDC WD800BB-32CCB0
WDC WD800BB-32CCB0
Taille : 74,53 Go
Capacite : 80 Go

There may be a problem with that model serie.

Thanks for all.;)
